Bachelor-level subject seminar, offered with a semester-dependent focus. The purpose of the seminar is to deal more intensively with specific topics in a small group and to work on them in a theory-guided manner.

Description:

The seminar teaches the basics of scientific work related to current topics in the field of Future of Work, Human Resource Management, & Organization. Students are introduced to and discuss different theories related to the field of Future of Work, Human Resource Management, & Organization. Furthermore, students focus on concrete research topics, systematize and reflect on them. Methods of empirical management research are presented, concretely applied and critically evaluated.

Learning Targets:

After successful participation in this seminar, students

• describe the principles of good scientific practice as well as strategies for academic writing.

• outline the state of the literature that relates to their specific topic.

• prepare a seminar paper according to the rules of good scientific work in a formally correct way.

• present the main results of their scientific work effectively.

• justify the exact focus and structure chosen for the seminar paper and its presentation.

• assess pros and cons of different approaches in the literature and how they contribute to a better understanding of the topic and, where appropriate, to academic or policy debates.

• develop suggestions for improvements on the current state of the literature with respect to the topic.

• place related topics in the context of their own work and participate in scholarly exchange.
