Bio:
Özlem Akekmekçi is a PhD candidate in Business Administration at Radboud University in the Netherlands. She holds two MA degrees and a BA from Boğaziçi University in Türkiye, with an academic background spanning economics and international business. Her doctoral research focuses on the platform economy, examining how skills, institutions, and country-level differences shape work and entrepreneurial outcomes in digital markets. Combining her interests in the platform economy and advanced quantitative techniques, Özlem works extensively with large-scale datasets, using big data analytics and advanced computational methods to generate empirical insights into digital markets.

Her research has been presented and developed through international conferences and workshops, including AOM, SASE, and EURAM. In addition to her academic work, she brings corporate experience from NatWest Markets, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and PwC, where she worked in project and consulting roles.
